Oboissimo, in collaboration with Sandro Caldini, released the first edition of the trio for two oboes and English horn. Johann Went (or Wendt or Wenth) was a Bohemian oboist and composer who lived during the 18th century; he was born in Divice in 1745 and died in Vienna in 1801. During his life he often played the oboe and English horn in Prague and later in Vienna, where he remained until his death. He composed many harmonies on the themes of the most famous operas and a large number of chamber works for wind instruments or strings. Among them are various compositions for 2 oboes and an English horn. The present trio in C major is probably dated around 1775 and is part of a previously unpublished collection of trios by Went and other composers such as Josef Triebensee (Went's son-in-law by marriage to his daughter Maximiliane) and originating from the Czech-Krumlov archive.
